Continuation

Jem cried, "Are you leaving me???"
Nicah stopped. "Guess I should stay here with Jem."
Jasper replied, "Okay. We'll go to Mish's house. Grab his laptop. Come back. Check out what's happening to Carlos and Ren."
Yanna smiled, "That's easy enough. Let's go."
Grabbing the CD, they left Jem and Nicah in the room.

Downstairs...
Almira said, "Great! I forgot our car exploded."
Joshua said, "Why not ride a taxi?"
Mishka called for one and in a few seconds, one stopped.
"Bad news, y'all can't fit," the driver said. He was dressed in black and had a cigarette on his left hand.
Jasper told them to split up. Jasper and Almira ride in another taxi to go to Ren's house. Joshua, Mishka and Yanna ride in this one going to Mishka's house. Joshua sat on the front seat.
"Fix your seat belt," Yanna said.
"Okay, Ate," Joshua said. Why am I calling someone older than me Ate?
Yanna smiled back evilly.
Mishka sat on the back and waved at Jazz and Almira.
Jasper and Almira got another taxi and went in the opposite direction.

Nicah was on the PC. She was researching and surfing the web.
"Hey Jem. Is Jet really in a business trip?"
Jem replied with a cough. "I don't know." "Ahhh!"
She clenched her waist.
Nicah called for the nurse. The nurse went inside the room with a doctor.
"Hang on Jem..." Nicah said.

For 10 minutes, Joshua felt something strange about the taxi. Especially the driver. He tried to tell the other two at the back but felt as if it wasn't the right time. This driver's dangerous. If I could only tell them...
The taxi stopped at Mishka's house. "We're not leaving yet," Mishka said to the taxi driver. "We're just getting something from this house." Mishka headed to his house.
Yanna got off. Joshua got off too.
He went to Yanna. Remembering, he said, "Ate, I found something about..."
"Hey. Stay inside the car so he won't go." She pushed him back to the front seat.
"Fine," Joshua said.
Yanna went to Mishka to help him.
Joshua started talking, "Hey Mister. You're not a taxi driver, aren't you?"
The driver blew from his cigarette once more. "What makes you think that?"
"My friends from the back seat may have been fooled by you. But I sat here on the front seat."
"Hmm...? What are you talking about. You're just a kid, ain't ya?"
"I'm not only a kid," Joshua said. "I'm a detective." Oh man. It came out of my mouth!!!
"Well... there ain't no place for detectives in my sight." The driver floored the pedal. Yanna and Mishka looked out the window. "Oh no, what just happened?"

The Letter...The Pigeon...The Diskette, and someone familiar!

Joshua's right. Blogger is having trouble posting pictures!

"A lead?" Yanna said, "We can barely read it!"
"And I have a baaaad feeling that this letter is entirely another thing...maybe it's NOT related to this letter. And maybe this diskette is hiding something!" Mishka said.
"He might be right." Nicah said. "Joshua, Jazz, Yanna, you guys try to figure out the letter. Besides, joshua can't possibly reach the computer, unless one of us carries him."
"Hey!" Joshua said, "But i must admit she's quite right."
"Mishka, Nicah and I can work on the diskette" Almira said. "Jem can get some rest and care for the pigeon too."
"Ok, let's do this!" said Jasper.

Later, while Joshua, Jasper and Yanna were working on the message, and Jem's/Carlos' Pigeon started to coo, Nicah was fiddling with the diskette. The top popped open and revealed a chip thing.

"Oops!" said Nicah " I think I broke it."
"Wait! Lemme see that" Mishka grabbed the thing from Nicah. "This looks awfully familiar."
"But WHAT is it?" Jem said.
"I don't know what it's called, but I DO know how to use it!" "mishka chirped.

Everybody stared at the thing.

"What? Jethro uses Macs sometimes!" Mishka cried.

Silence.

"Don't tell me I'm the only one who carries a Mac laptop around!"

"Guys!" Jasper pointed at a word in the letter.
Everybody gasped.

Ren.

"Dun dun duuuuuuuun!" Almira said.

Woooooow! I acctually wrote a story and FINISHED IT!!!! Yay PFKada!

Carlos P

"How many times have we been in a hospital?" Jasper asked.
"Umm..." Nicah said. "Countless..."
"When will we see Carlos again?" Yanna asked.
"Yeah... I hope I see him," Josh said.

Then they all stayed in a circle, except Jem of course who was in a bed.
Mishka spoke about neopets and other crazy stuff.
Nicah talked about the missions.
Almira talked about Joshua the blue stuff toy alien.
And they had fun as Jem was recovering.

"Oh yeah! Where's the diskette?" Joshua asked.
"Here," Almira handed it to him.
"Oh man! Laptops these days don't have diskette drives."
Yanna said, "But there's this bulky PC in the room with a diskette drive. Good thing they provide PC's in suites."
They all gathered round the computer. Except Jem, of course, who was sleeping and trying to recover.
Joshua placed the diskette and checked it.
"It's blank???" The computer did not show any files.
"Why would a crazy guy break into Jet's house and steal a blank diskette?" Jasper asked.
"Maybe he misplaced it?" Almira said.
"Something does not seem right," Joshua said. He checked the properties of the diskette.
"See! There is something in it!!!"
"Strange." Nicah said. And she started to think.

Joshua did some hacking stuff and finally got through. A blue screen filled with numbers and filled the screen.
"Looks a lot like Matrix, except it's green." Jasper said.
Jaz, Joshua, Nicah and Jem laughed.
Almira and Mishka asked, "What?"
The numbers ran through fast and ended up in a black screen. The computer turned off.
"What just happened?" Mishka said. "You're dead."

Joshua forced the diskette out and placed it inside a plastic bag. Then put it in his backpack then put it under Jem's pillow for safety.
"What now?" Almira asked.
"No lead." Mishka said.

A pigeon smashed into the glass window of the room. They got frightened. Jem woke up.
"What just happened?"She said gloomily. Then her eyes widened. "Ouch!"
"Stay still," Nicah said.
Jasper opened the window and untangled the letter from the pigeon's beak. It took a while before he got it.

Huge black stains were on the letter. And it was sent not in a coincidence. It was from Carlos.
"We now have a lead," Nicah said.
